Hiller X-18 Tilt-Wing V/STOL Research Aircraft Family
The Hiller X-18 was a single-aircraft tilt-wing V/STOL demonstrator built to investigate the feasibility and control problems of large wing-and-engine assemblies rotating from conventional flight to vertical lift. Its 20-flight program explored tilt-wing transition and hover control, ended after a final-flight loss of control, and informed the later XC-142 transport design.
