The Ilyushin Il-96 is a four-engine wide-body long-haul airliner developed as the Soviet/Russian successor to the Il-86. The family combined a large two-deck fuselage, advanced flight-management and automatic-landing systems, and a PS-90A-powered baseline with later passenger, freighter, and government derivatives; its first flight marked a major post-Soviet civil-aircraft programme.
