J-I was a Japanese three-stage all-solid launch vehicle assembled from existing systems for rapid, lower-cost small-satellite launch development. It combined the H-II solid rocket booster developed by NASDA with upper-stage technology from ISAS's M-3SII; only the first vehicle flew before further development was suspended.
