The Kawasaki C-1 is Japan's postwar twin-engine tactical transport family, developed for the Japan Air Self-Defense Force around short-field performance and domestic aircraft-design capability. Its high-lift wing and rear-loading transport layout supported routine military airlift and later research derivatives, while the type became Japan's first domestically developed transport jet and a technical bridge to the C-2 and other modern Kawasaki programs.
