The Kawasaki Ki-45 Toryu was a Japanese twin-engine Army fighter family used for ground attack, anti-shipping work, and night interception. Development began in January 1938; the type entered combat in fall 1942, became popular with crews, and culminated in the Ki-45 Kai Hei night fighter, one of 477 night-fighter examples among 1,700 Toryus built by Kawasaki.
