Kawasaki P-1 Maritime Patrol Aircraft Family
The Kawasaki P-1 is a four-engine maritime patrol aircraft developed in Japan to replace the P-3C in Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force service. The XP-1 prototype first flew in 2007, development concluded in 2013, and the first production aircraft was delivered that March. Purpose-designed patrol systems, domestic IHI turbofans, and fly-by-light flight controls distinguish the P-1 from commercial-airliner derivatives used for similar missions.
