Kosmos 167 V-67 Venus Impact Spacecraft

Kosmos 167 was the Soviet V-67 (1V No. 311) Venus impact spacecraft launched on 17 June 1967. Its Blok L transinterplanetary stage failed to fire, so the probe remained stranded in Earth orbit and reentered on 25 June 1967. The spacecraft combined a Venus lander with a bus carrying a triaxial magnetometer, ion traps, gas-discharge counter, and radiation detectors; the lander carried an altimeter, gas analyzers, densitometer and thermometer, and barometer.
