Kosmos 27 3MV-1 Venus Impact Spacecraft
Kosmos 27 was the first dedicated Soviet 3MV Venus-impact spacecraft, 3MV-1 No. 5, launched on 27 March 1964. The 948-kilogram spacecraft included a 285-kilogram lander with atmospheric, chemical, acidity, electro-conductivity, luminosity, and microorganism experiments. It reached Earth orbit but a Blok L attitude-control power failure prevented Venus departure; the spacecraft reentered the next day.
