The Lockheed C-130 Hercules is a four-engine turboprop transport family designed to carry people and bulky cargo into short, rough, and austere airfields. Its high wing, low cargo floor, rear loading ramp, and reconfigurable pressurized hold support airlift, medical evacuation, disaster relief, firefighting, weather reconnaissance, polar resupply, search and rescue, and many other missions. Successive C-130A through C-130J and civil L-100 derivatives have kept the design in continuous production for more than seven decades.
