The Lockheed C-141 Starlifter was the United States Air Force's first major jet transport designed from the outset to military standards for strategic troop and cargo airlift. Its high-speed, long-range fleet carried service members, equipment, patients, and humanitarian cargo for more than four decades, while the C-141A-to-C-141B stretch and later C-141C modernization made the family a defining bridge between piston-era airlift and the C-17 generation.
