DS2000 is Mitsubishi Electric's standardized satellite platform for large spacecraft, combining shared structural and spacecraft-bus systems with mission-specific payloads and equipment. It supports geostationary satellite production and has also informed the Michibiki positioning-satellite series. Standardization reduces repeated engineering while allowing customer-specific mission configurations. The manufacturer describes a roughly three-to-five-tonne launch-mass class, up to 15 kilowatts of spacecraft power and a design life exceeding 15 years; these are platform-level capabilities rather than specifications guaranteed for every spacecraft. Assembly and qualification use integrated manufacturing, thermal-vacuum, antenna, acoustic and vibration-test facilities. Individual communications or navigation satellites retain their own payloads, orbits, operators and histories; DS2000 identifies the reusable design foundation rather than one physical satellite.
