The Northrop Grumman X-47A Pegasus was a company-funded tailless unmanned combat-air-vehicle demonstrator built to reduce the risks of autonomous carrier aviation. Its 2003 flight-test program evaluated autonomous flight control, navigation, low-speed handling, and precision landing performance in support of the Navy and DARPA UCAV-N effort, preceding the larger X-47B UCAS-D.
