The Pipistrel Velis Electro is a two-seat battery-electric light airplane designed primarily for pilot training. Derived within Pipistrel's Virus SW family but certified as the SW 128 model, it combines a quiet electric powertrain with conventional fixed-wing handling and day-VFR operation. In 2020 it became the first fully electric airplane in the world to receive a type certificate, establishing a regulatory and operational precedent for certified electric aviation.
