Ranger Block II lunar impact-probe family
Ranger Block II was NASA's 1962 lunar impact-probe design family used by Ranger 3, Ranger 4, and Ranger 5. The family carried a separate instrument capsule intended to impact the Moon; Ranger 4 reached the lunar far side and became the first American spacecraft to reach another celestial body.
