Ranger Block III lunar impact-imaging spacecraft
Ranger Block III was JPL’s final lunar impact-imaging spacecraft design. Four probes flew in 1964-1965 with six television cameras aimed at returning progressively closer views before impact; after Ranger 6’s camera failure, Rangers 7, 8, and 9 completed three consecutive successful missions.
