Safir Launch Vehicle

Safir was Iran's first orbital launch vehicle. The small expendable two-stage launcher placed Omid, Iran's first domestically launched satellite, into orbit in February 2009 and subsequently flew additional small scientific and Earth-observation missions. Safir established Iran's indigenous orbital-launch capability before the larger Simorgh program matured.
