Scout X-1

Scout X-1 was the first complete four-stage Scout development configuration, using Algol-1B/1C, Castor-1A, Antares-1A, and Altair-1A solid motors. Seven flights in 1960–1961 qualified the system and culminated in ST-4’s successful launch of Explorer 9, the first orbital mission by an all-solid rocket.
