ShinMaywa US-2 STOL Search-and-Rescue Amphibian

The ShinMaywa US-2 is a four-engine Japanese STOL amphibian developed from the US-1A for long-range search and rescue. It combines land undercarriage with a boat hull, boundary-layer-control-assisted low-speed flight, pressurization, and rough-water handling so it can reach remote maritime emergencies beyond normal helicopter range. Japan also uses the aircraft to transport emergency patients from islands without airports.
