Short SC.7 Skyvan STOL Cargo and Utility Aircraft Family
The Short SC.7 Skyvan is a Belfast-designed, high-wing STOL utility aircraft whose unpressurised box-section fuselage and large rear loading door made it unusually effective for short-field freight, passenger, parachute, survey, and military support operations. The family began with a Continental-powered prototype in 1963, evolved through Astazou turboprop Skyvan 2 aircraft, and reached its principal production form with Garrett TPE331-powered Skyvan 3 variants; the concept also became the basis for the Short 330/360 and C-23 Sherpa lineage.
