The Sikorsky S-61 is a twin-turbine helicopter family first flown in 1959 for the U.S. Navy as the HSS-2, later redesignated SH-3 Sea King. Amphibious military variants, stretched S-61L/N commercial transports, search-and-rescue aircraft, head-of-state transports, and modernized S-61Ts carried the design into worldwide service. A small number continue in passenger, freight, hoist, and support operations.
