Space Launch System Block 1B is NASA’s more capable SLS configuration, replacing Block 1’s Interim Cryogenic Propulsion Stage with the four-engine Exploration Upper Stage. The crew configuration is designed to send Orion plus co-manifested cargo toward the Moon beginning with Artemis IV, while a dedicated cargo configuration can carry larger deep-space payloads.
