Soyuz 7K-L1 was TsKBEM's two-seat circumlunar spacecraft for the Soviet Zond L1 program. Derived from Soyuz 7K-OK without its orbital module, the free-return design used a high-gain antenna and lunar-navigation equipment; its uncrewed flights tested deep-space navigation, high-speed skip reentry, recovery, photography, and biological payloads before the crewed project was canceled.
