Scaled Composites SpaceShipOne

SpaceShipOne was the reusable three-seat Scaled Composites Model 316 air-launched suborbital spaceplane. It made its first free flight in August 2003, completed the first privately funded human spaceflight in June 2004, and won the Ansari X Prize with flights above 100 km on September 29 and October 4, 2004. The sole vehicle is preserved by the Smithsonian.
