Sputnik 8A91 was a short-lived Soviet orbital launch-vehicle variant in the R-7 lineage, developed to launch the heavy Object D scientific satellite. Its first flight failed on 27 April 1958; the second launched Sputnik 3 successfully on 15 May 1958. The expendable vehicle used an R-7 core with four strap-on boosters.
