Surveyor 3 was NASA’s second successful Surveyor lunar lander. Launched in 1967, it soft-landed in Oceanus Procellarum, sampled the lunar soil, returned 6,326 images, and was visited by Apollo 12 astronauts who recovered spacecraft parts for analysis.
