Thrust-Augmented Thor-Agena B added three Thiokol solid strap-on motors to the standard Thor first stage while retaining the restartable Agena B upper stage. The augmentation nearly doubled first-stage liftoff thrust and was used by NASA for the successful Nimbus 2 meteorological-satellite launch in 1966.
