Tsyklon-2 was the definitive two-stage 11K69 orbital member of the R-36-derived Tsyklon family, distinct from the earlier interim 11K67 Tsyklon-2A. It first flew from Baikonur on 6 August 1969 and operated until 2006, primarily carrying Soviet and Russian military payloads into low Earth orbit with a very high success rate across more than one hundred launches.
