The Northrop Grumman X-47A Pegasus was a tailless, composite unmanned combat-air-vehicle demonstrator developed for the DARPA and U.S. Navy UCAV-N program. Its kite-like low-observable configuration was intended to demonstrate autonomous flight qualities and technologies for sea-based surveillance, suppression of enemy air defenses, and strike missions; the prototype first flew at China Lake on February 24, 2003.
