The Zenit-2 series was the two-stage Baikonur-launched base of the Zenit family. A four-chamber RD-171 kerosene and liquid-oxygen engine powered the first stage, while the second used an RD-120 main engine and RD-8 vernier; later 2M and 2SB forms incorporated improvements developed for Sea Launch.
