1903 Wright Flyer

The original 1903 Wright Flyer made four powered flights at Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina, on 17 December 1903. Orville Wright piloted the first 12-second flight; Wilbur piloted the fourth and longest flight before wind overturned and damaged the aircraft after landing. The surviving original is held by the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum.
