Compton Gamma Ray Observatory
NASA's Compton Gamma Ray Observatory was a TRW-designed and integrated 17-ton gamma-ray spacecraft operated by Goddard. Atlantis deployed it on STS-37; after nine years of successful science, NASA safely destroyed it through controlled atmospheric reentry over the remote Pacific.
