Diamant A-1 (Astérix)

Diamant A-1 was the first French orbital launch vehicle. It lifted off from Hammaguir on 26 November 1965 and successfully placed the 42-kilogram A-1 technology capsule, nicknamed Astérix, into orbit, making France the third nation with an indigenous orbital-launch capability.
