Fairey Rotodyne prototype XE521

XE521 was the sole Fairey Rotodyne demonstrator, the physical aircraft used to prove compound-gyroplane vertical lift, transition and forward-flight performance. It made the type's first flight on 6 November 1957 and later set a convertiplane speed record before being destroyed after the programme ended.
