Inertial Upper Stage-27
IUS-27 was the Boeing-provided two-stage Inertial Upper Stage flown with Chandra on STS-93. After Columbia deployed the combined stack, IUS-27 fired its two solid motors, placed Chandra into transfer orbit, and separated after solar-array deployment.
