Little Joe LJ-1 was prepared for a maximum-dynamic-pressure abort test at Wallops Island on 21 August 1959. About 30 minutes before planned launch, an electrical transient accidentally fired the Mercury escape rocket; the capsule and tower departed, but the Little Joe booster remained intact on its launcher and therefore has no flight date.
