Lockheed Vega Winnie Mae

Winnie Mae was the specially modified Lockheed Vega 5C flown by Wiley Post on record-setting flights around the world in 1931 and 1933. For the 1933 flight Post relied on an early production autopilot and radio direction finder to become the first person to fly around the world solo. He later used the aircraft with a pressure suit and modified landing gear for pioneering high-altitude research in the jet stream. The Smithsonian acquired the aircraft in 1936.
