M-3SII-1 (Sakigake)

M-3SII-1 launched the MS-T5 test probe, later named Sakigake, from Kagoshima Space Center on 8 January 1985. With an optional kick stage, it sent Japan's first interplanetary spacecraft onto a heliocentric trajectory ahead of the Halley encounter campaign.
