Mariner 10
Mariner 10, designated Mariner-73J, launched on November 3, 1973 and used a Venus gravity assist to make three flybys of Mercury. The spacecraft returned the first close images of Mercury, detected its magnetic field, and operated until its attitude-control gas was exhausted in March 1975.
