Mercury Spacecraft 14/14A Little Joe 5A and 5B

Mercury Spacecraft 14 flew the Little Joe 5A maximum-dynamic-pressure escape test on March 18, 1961, but premature spacecraft-separation signals prevented full completion. Refitted as 14A, it flew Little Joe 5B on April 28 and successfully qualified the escape system under the required aerodynamic loads before the first crewed Mercury launch.
