Mercury Spacecraft 2 was mounted for the failed November 21, 1960 MR-1 launch attempt, when the Redstone rose only inches and settled back on the pad. After inspection and rework, the same capsule flew the successful uncrewed MR-1A suborbital qualification mission on December 19 and was recovered.
