Tail 3 was the next-generation New Shepard propulsion module introduced with NS-7 on December 12, 2017. It supported the program's dedicated payload vehicle, including seven consecutive flights through NS-13 and an eighth on NS-17. On NS-23, a thermo-structural fatigue failure of the BE-3PM nozzle caused thrust misalignment; the capsule escaped safely, while Blue Origin's investigation confirmed the loss of Propulsion Module Tail 3.
