North American X-15-3 was the third X-15 research aircraft, serial 56-6672. NASA's Michael Adams X-15 biography identifies it as the number three aircraft used on Adams' seventh X-15 flight on November 15, 1967. That flight reached 266,000 feet before the vehicle was lost during descent, killing Adams and ending the X-15-3's service.
