Opportunity was NASA's MER-B Mars Exploration Rover. Launched on July 7, 2003, it landed in Eagle crater at Meridiani Planum on January 25, 2004 UTC and operated for almost fifteen years, traveling 45.16 kilometers and returning extensive evidence of ancient Martian water. NASA declared the mission complete on February 13, 2019 after recovery attempts following the 2018 global dust storm.
