The OPS-SAT flight spacecraft launched with CHEOPS and other payloads in December 2019. Operated from ESA’s ESOC, it hosted experiments in onboard processing, communications and spacecraft operations for four and a half years. Increased atmospheric drag during heightened solar activity shortened its remaining orbital life in 2024. The mission ended in atmospheric reentry after its final ground contact on May 22 UTC.
