Orion Exploration Flight Test-1

This Orion crew module flew Exploration Flight Test-1 on December 5, 2014, the type's first spaceflight. Launched by a Delta IV Heavy, the uncrewed spacecraft completed two orbits, reached about 3,600 miles above Earth, reentered at near lunar-return conditions, and splashed down in the Pacific after testing its heat shield, avionics, parachutes, and recovery systems.
