The Occulter is Proba-3's free-flying solar-blocking spacecraft, positioned roughly 150 metres ahead of the Coronagraph during observations. It carries the occulting disk and the camera and laser systems that measure the partner's relative position. Its independent platform holds the precisely controlled shadow needed for prolonged observations of the inner solar corona.
