Saab JAS 39-1 Gripen first prototype

Saab 39-1 was the first flying Gripen prototype and the airframe used to begin the JAS 39 flight-test programme. Saab test pilot Stig Holmström flew it from Saab's Linköping field on 9 December 1988; the prototype was later lost in a 1989 landing accident during the early flight-test campaign.
