SMART-1

SMART-1 was ESA’s first lunar spacecraft and Europe’s first mission to orbit the Moon. Launched on September 27, 2003, it demonstrated solar-electric primary propulsion, entered lunar orbit on November 15, 2004, completed its science programme, and ended in a controlled lunar impact on September 3, 2006.
