It carried commander Sergey Ryzhikov, Roscosmos flight engineer Andrei Borisenko, and NASA flight engineer Shane Kimbrough to the International Space Station for Expeditions 49 and 50. The spacecraft docked with the station's Poisk module after a two-day rendezvous, remained attached during the crew's long-duration mission, and returned the same three crewmembers to Kazakhstan on April 10, 2017.
