Soyuz TM-31 was a Soyuz TM spacecraft, 7K-STM No. 205, launched from Baikonur Site 1/5 on October 31, 2000. It carried Yuri Gidzenko, Sergei Krikalev, and William Shepherd to the International Space Station as the Expedition 1 launch spacecraft. The Expedition 1 crew returned to Earth aboard Space Shuttle Discovery on STS-102, while Soyuz TM-31 remained at the station as the docked rescue spacecraft and later returned the Soyuz TM-32 taxi crew on May 6, 2001.
